Anderson Silva komt in april terug van zijn blessure

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is sinds vandaag weer terug in zijn gym en hoopt in april terug te komen in UFC zegt zijn manager Ed Soares.

Anderson Silva onderging vorig jaar september een operatie aan zijn elleboog. Door enkele tegenslagen in het herstelproces was Anderson Silva niet goed genoeg hersteld om zijn titel te verdedigen tegenover zijn voormalig trainingpartner Vitor Belfort, wat gepland stond voor UFC 108.

UFC 112 staat op het programma voor 10 april in Abu Dhabi met mogelijk als main-event het gevecht tussen UFC veteranen Matt Hughes en Renzo Grancie. UFC 113 staat gepland voor 1 mei in Montreal, Quebec. Main-event van UFC 113 is een rematch tussen Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida en Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Over UFC 114 is nog niks bekend gemaakt, UFC 114 vind plaats op 29 mei.

Mocht Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson besluiten om het gevecht aan te gaan met Reshad Evans ( waar nu veel over gepraat word ) zal dat gevecht plaatsvinden bij UFC 113. Anderson Silva zal dan dus in april of eind mei terug komen in de Octagon om zijn titel te verdedigen.

Ed Soares:

“It doesn’t matter, wherever they can place him to fight, he’ll fight. He wants to get in there and fight again.”

Toen Anderson Silva vorig jaar gevraagd werd voor een gevecht tegen oud trainingspartner Vitor Belfort wou Anderson Silva niks zeggen.

Ed Soares:

“It is who they say it is, It’s not a matter of signing off. I’ve never said it wasn’t going to be a great fight. All I ever said was I didn’t think he deserved to fight for a title. Some people agree with me; some people don’t. It doesn’t really make a difference. Anderson always has and always will fight whoever he puts in front of him.
Sometimes people take my opinion or someone else’s opinion that we won’t fight him. I’m not saying we won’t fight him. I’m jusy saying we don’t think he doesn’t deserve it. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s going to be a phenomenal fight. Vitor’s a dangerous guy, but Anderson is very dangerous too. I think Anderson has more tools, but I think Vitor poses a lot of threats. He’s a super-tough guy.”
